Highly Sensitive People

Highly Sensitive People – #WisdomWednesday

Does being around a lake give you a sense of peace? Do you recognize when someone isn’t telling the truth? Are there days when you want to get away from everybody and everything and just spend time in a darkened room? You are probably a highly sensitive person who experiences life on a level much higher than the average person.

You are not alone. Many people feel the same way. They understand their feelings and have learned how to manage their sensitivity. Highly sensitive people appreciate the creativity of a musical and the excitement of visiting an art gallery. Recognizing that you are a highly sensitive person will help you develop a better awareness of yourself and your needs. A highly sensitive person feels more deeply, cries more often, and feels the pain of others. People who are highly sensitive are great at analyzing situations and offering up the best advice. They believe in Karma and how everything happens for a reason. Highly sensitive people live their life in harmony. They love animals and are sensitive to their needs. They have a vivid imagination and a depth of understanding that comes from paying too much attention.

“Highly sensitive people are too often perceived as weaklings or damaged goods. To feel intensely is not a symptom of weakness, it is the trademark of the truly alive and compassionate. It is not the empath who is broken, it is society that has become dysfunctional and emotionally disabled. There is no shame in expressing your authentic feelings. Those who are at times described as being a ‘hot mess’ or having ‘too many issues’ are the very fabric of what keeps the dream alive for a more caring, humane world. Never be ashamed to let your tears shine a light in this world.” ~ Anthon St. Maarten ~

“Sensitive people are the heart of the world. Sensitive hearts will save this world if they are empowered. Caring deeply and feeling deeply is a gift.” ~ Eileen Anglin ~
